The Polgár Foundation for Opportunities held its first meeting for its selected young participants on 13 February in Budapest. Other than being a great opportunity to meet each other and exchange ideas, the youngsters also gained some important knowledge helping their preparation for the youth exchange in Brazil.
During the full day program, information was provided about the project goals, the partner organisations, the history of the Olympic Games and the Olympic values together with some practical information about Brazil, the host country of the 2016 Olympics. In the second part of the meeting, Polgár Foundation’s young talents had the opportunity to test their English language skills. They made a promise to develop their foreign language skills which will help them to better integrate in the multicultural environment of the event.
The Olympic Legacy project is a great opportunity for all of them to meet young people from other parts of the world and discover common values through engaging in sport and cultural activities. For many of them this will be the first time abroad which makes the initiative even more special. The personal development of young participants will be monitored and a second preparatory meeting will take place before the departure to Brazil.
